Delete your account
Last updated: 4 August 2026
Two ways to do this. Ask your institution's administrator, or write to us directly.
Either way, the account stops working within 7 working days and its personal details are removed within 30 days.
Option 1 — Ask your administrator
Grandhika accounts belong to an institution. The fastest route is to ask the librarian or administrator at your school, college, or library to remove your account. They can do this themselves from the web dashboard, and it takes effect immediately.
Option 2 — Write to us
If you cannot reach your administrator, or you have left the institution, email admin@grandhika.in from the address linked to your account, with:
- The subject line
Account deletion request - Your institution code — the code you type on the login screen
- Your username
- Your full name
We will confirm the request with your institution before acting on it. This protects institutions from someone else deleting a staff account.
What gets deleted
| Deleted | Kept |
|---|---|
|
Your name, username, and email Your password Your login sessions Your role and permissions |
Book catalogue records Library member records Lending history, with your name removed Billing records, as tax law requires |
Library records stay with the institution because they belong to the institution, not to any individual member of staff. A book issued in 2025 remains part of that library's register even after the staff member who issued it has left. Lending entries are kept but no longer name you.
How long it takes
- Within 7 working days — the account is disabled and can no longer sign in.
- Within 30 days — personal details are removed from the live database.
- Within 90 days — remaining copies are cleared from encrypted backups as those backups rotate.
Deleting some records without closing your account
You do not have to close your account to remove particular records. A librarian or administrator can delete individual members, books, lending records and cashbook entries directly from the web dashboard at grandhika.in, and the change takes effect immediately. This is done on the website; the mobile app does not delete records.
If you cannot reach your administrator, or the records you want removed are not ones you can delete yourself, write to admin@grandhika.in describing what should be removed. Removed records are cleared from encrypted backups within 90 days as those backups rotate.
Closing an entire institution's account
To close a whole institution's account and remove all of its records, the request must come from the head of the institution or the registered administrator. Write to admin@grandhika.in.
We will offer a full export of your catalogue, member list, and registers before anything is deleted. Once deletion is carried out, the records cannot be recovered.
